Lake Biwa (Biwako)Kusatsu

Sunday 5/2/25.

After stuffing up the trains yesterday we got going early to the Lake Biwa Museum. It was fantastic. a combination of aquarium and museum all dedicated to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan and information about other Great Lakes in the world – hence the seal. There was plenty of information about the geology and life of the lake in English.

Wonderful Museum. Worth a visit but give yourself plenty of time. There nis so much to see.

We took taxi there but got the bus back to the Kusatsu JR station…so much cheaper.

We thought we might head on to Minakuchi and go to the Koka Ninja House but we spent too much time at the museum and decided to go onto Kameyama where we were guaranteed a room.

We left our bags and coats in the locker but Stephen braved the cold to enjoy the views of Lake Biwa and snow topped mountains.
