We had a wonderful visit from our friends Yuko san and Ura san. Yuko san and I went to Nishiki Dori, the food street in Kyoto for all the ingredients for Temaki Sushi ( hand rolled sushi) for our dinner. The idea is that you put all the ingredients on the table and everyone makes their own sushi. Sagano Scenic Railway also known as the Romantic Train runs along the Hozugawa River from Arashiyama to Kameoka. From this lovely old train with open carriages and wooden bench seats you can see the most wonderful scenery. You can purchase a return ticket or come back on the Hozugawa River Run. The day we did the trip the River was closed due to heavy rain. I have done the River Run and it was heaps of fun.
I am lucky again to be in Kyoto when the Kyoto Saga University of Arts their annual graduation exhibtion, “Saga Arts”. It was again held at the Kyoto Municipal Art Museum. My friend Yaeko took me to the Ebisu Jinja Shrine for the Tokaebisu Festival held on the 10th of January each year. Merchants and business people go to pray for good business and for the well being and safety of family. In October I took the Sagano Scenic Railway, also known as the Romantic Train to Kameoka for the Hozugawa River Run to Arashiyama. After a fun wild ride down the river we ended up in Arashiyama for lunch Beer and cuttlefish – yum!!!!
